|We envision that all American International School students will become vibrant and passionate world changers for Jesus Christ: instilling in them a biblical worldview, personal integrity, and compassionate service.|
AIS offers an American curriculum in which students will be challenged to think critically and solve real-world problems. Common Core and Virginia State Standards are used as frameworks for our curriculum development. Students will be challenged through innovative teaching techniques and best practices. Students prepare to interact in a global society through cooperative learning in a culturally diverse classroom environment. We intentionally keep class sizes small to allow us to work closely with each child and develop a program to suit individual needs.
The heart of our mission beats in the day-to-day activities of the school, the lives of our teachers and students, and their innovative initiatives. As a Christian school, our teachers are dedicated and care for the whole child. Our weekly chapel programs are run by committees that include teachers and students. Our weekly advisory and family groups help to foster accountability and discipleship across grade levels and instill good character qualities. The small school and class environments help create a unique school culture where students and staff care for one another.
Students are given the opportunity to sharpen 21st century skills such as collaboration and communication to impact the world around them. Teachers guide these emergent leaders to make change by using strategic planning methods and innovative implementation practices. Students are challenged to exhibit caring character traits through service projects and community initiatives.
