|NICS, The Network of International Christians Schools, Inc., has had interest in a school in the capital city of Ghana since 2002. Talks started in 2003 with land developers and interested parents about starting an international Christian school in Accra. Interest was expressed both from the missionary community as well as the expatriate and Ghanaian community for a strong academic, high-quality, Christian international school. In March of 2006 NICS officially announced the opening of the school in the East Legon area of Accra. The school opened in September 2006 with 46 students, from Preschool through grade 11. The current facility was expanded to a neighboring house in January 2008 to accommodate the expanding high school enrollment. Enrollment in 2012 exceeded 200 students. Long-term plans include the construction of a new campus near the present location.AIS achieved candidacy status with Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) in May 2009. Students receive an American high school diploma with all rights and privileges of a fully accredited school. They are well prepared to transfer to other international schools or universities for further studies.
